Photographing Birds and Their Groovy Moves
Have you seen a bird do the moon walk? During breeding season male birds will pull out all their talents, from feather displays to some of the best dance moves you will ever see. Watching this courtship behavior is quite a sight. Most of the dancing action takes place around a lek, a common area where several birds hang out during the courtship season. At the lek the male birds display their feathers, sing, and dance to attract a female. Some of the best places to photograph birds at the lek are on the Trinidad & Tobago, Costa Rica Tour, Peru and Ecuador Tours. Birds include Red-Capped Manakins, Golden Headed Manakins, White Bearded Manakins. Photographing these groovy moves will be a challenge as the Manakin bounces around tree branch to branch. Be sure to have a high shutter speed and note you will be photographing these birds in a low light jungle setting. An easier way to capture these groovy moves is to use your video setting on your camera.
