How to photograph just one bird in a group

Photo Tip on Photographing Birds

While on the Wild Wolves scouting mission I had the pleasure of photographing bald eagles in flight. At times I had 15-20 bald eagles flying about all around. With so many Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles and Ravens in action, I had to quickly decide which eagle was going to be my main subject.

Place your camera on single point focus (square in the middle) and half press the shutter to lock. Then proceed to push down your shutter button to take the photo. Don’t be overwhelmed by all the action. Take a deep breath, relax and focus on just one. Track this one bird, capturing it in flight. You can still use AV mode as long as the background does not change while you move your lens from forest to blue sky. If there is a changing background read the Manual Mode photo tip. Bird in flight photography takes time to master, practice makes perfect!

Happy Shooting!
