How to get images ready for print
PhotoShop Tip: Getting your Image Print Ready
Congratulations. You have successfully grabbed the attention of a magazine and now they want to use your image for one of their print magazine articles. Let’s hope you have kept the original image. Saving for print is different than for web. Most magazines require 300 dpi for a complete page in a printed magazine.
Open your RAW file in PhotoShop, the original file.
Make a copy.
Edit the copied image, keeping your original. Refine your image and process it to your preference. If you have already processed your image and saved it be sure to check the image size.
Select Image—Image Size - You will see a box Resolution: 300 pixels/inch (300 dpi). This will be the largest size and suitable for print. If your file is smaller, you can’t make it larger. You must use the original.
Be sure to include your File Info on your image.
