Snowy Owl Trip Report Jan 2015!

There is high anticipation as we wake before dawn in preparation for a day with the Snowy Owls.

After breakfast, we dawn the obligatory layers of warm clothing and fumble into the van. with all this clothing on even getting into the vehicle is a chore.

As we drive through the still dark countryside we see the sun's first orange glows coming over the horizon. As we drive down the very abandoned country route we see it, our first Snowy Owl sitting atop a fence post in the first rays of light. We very quickly start to get our camera gear ready, ignoring the fact that it is a rather crispy -23 degrees Celsius.

On this morning we will proceed to photograph this beautiful owl for the next couple of hours. We photograph with backlighting and side lighting for the artists in all of us, and then proceed to get beautiful action flight shots in great light with a new dusting of snow as a canvas.

Not sure what more a nature photographer could ask for, what a morning! Read more about the Snowy Owl Photography Workshop click here!
